DOCK (Greece) becomes an official support center for SSE

Since April 2019, DOCK along with 16 other SSE entities in Greece are functioning as official support centers for SSE, an action funded by the Greek government and the EU.

The main objective of this action is to provide free services to people or entities who want to develop economic activity in the field of SSE either by giving general info and introductory documentation to those interested or through support and personalized counseling for organizations already economically active in SSE.

Having already supported ten of these SSE initiatives and groups of people at the stage of the initial idea, the aim during the implementation of this action is to contribute in making SSE more visible by strengthening and enhancing the SSE practices and the actors behind them.

Independent media talk about SSE

Independent media are close to the SSE, often by their status and especially by the values they defend. But how do they approach it? Here is a selection of independent media articles from the last three months. You can also find them on the map of socioeco.org: Journalism of Solutions (the articles are located in the city where the experience is taking place or, in the case of a general article, in the city where the media is based).

As you will see, the articles are in their original language, due to the diversity of European countries. For Greek, for which the Efsyn journal is particularly present with sometimes several articles per week on SSE, an English summary is included. This will allow you to perceive which themes are covered by these media: sustainable development, refugees, self-management, cooperatives, organic agriculture, etc. Feel free to send us an article or a media site to improve the map and our knowledge of SSE. Write to Françoise Wautiez: fwautiez[at]socioeco.org

Florence (Italy): SUSY – European training on SSE
February 15, 2016
0

“The SUSY project brings together and shows you examples of the solidarity economy, so that people involved and interested in solidarity-based initiatives can network and interact, and we can share and open up the idea of the solidarity economy to more and more people. By collecting and sharing these examples, we aim to gain new insights into the solidarity economy. We hope to enable reflection and discussion in order to discover and embark on more and more future opportunities and possibilities for the solidarity economy. At the same time – like other initiatives in the solidarity economy – we are building links with political decision makers so to increase their support for an alternative way of doing things.

WE are a network of 26 associations in 23 European countries enhancing the competences of local actors that are engaged in the social and solidarity economy, supporting a new paradigm of economic development in order to fight poverty and to diffuse an equitable and sustainable way of living.”

The European training is a preparatory activity for the development of the 46 local trainings for multipliers directed to NGOs, Social and Solidarity Economy operators. It takes place in Florence (Italy) between the 16th and 18th of February 2016. The European training is essential for the acquisition of competences and educational methodologies related to the project topics.

RIPESS Europe has been invited to participate to the training programme.

The objectives of the training will be:

  1. to create a common language on the SSE;
  2. to share and analyse the researches results;
  3. to deepen the knowledge on some SSE sectors (agriculture, services, energy), data and public policies/legislations;
  4. to strengthen the link between development cooperation and SSE;
  5. to analyse and build in each territory the relations with the stakeholders;
  6. to share inputs on local trainings for the preparation of the guidelines;
  7. to improve skills and methodologies on participation.

SSE Education is a key element of the work carried out by social movements to put forth the Social Solidarity Economy (SSE) as a holistic alternative economic model. Over the course of 2015-2016, the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy (RIPESS) seeks to bring together peoples engaged in SSE education (popular and community education, formal education, training for practitioners and SSE development organizations) to connect and strengthen the links between SSE educators, foster collaboration and share experiences, strategies, tools and curriculums.

The goals of this project are:
– To build and strengthen connections amongst SSE Educators for mutual support, exchange and collaboration.
– To share experiences, best practices, tools and curriculum.
– To develop materials and resources to improve or fill gaps in SSE education.
– To discuss strategies to advance education about the SSE in communities, educational institutions, and among SSE practitioners and SSE development groups.
– To lay the foundation for a RIPESS SSE Forum/School that includes the development of a curriculum with a common core that can be supplemented by localized material.

The initiative also aims to identify gaps in SSE education and to collectively develop tools for SSE educators, for instance building on the Global Vision of RIPESS. An international survey, webinars and other trilingual (English, Spanish and French) spaces for exchange and collaboration will be facilitated so that we can learn from each other’s experiences.

The survey is a first step in this project. Thanks for contributing to build it by participating in this survey and by sharing it widely among your networks!

You can take the survey following this link.
