European Project VET-2 (2018-2020): Mapping for Trainers is Out
ssevet2

One of the main objectives of this Erasmus+ VET-2 project is to develop a competence profile for SSE trainers in different disciplines of VET studies. This report explores the possibility of integrating VET trainers’ competences in existing training programs. In order to do so, the organisations and networks part of the project – from Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Romania – participated to a survey to explore elements that will be introduced in trainers competence profile adjusted to SSE requirement.

Thus, in this report “Mapping of trainers’ competences and existing SSE training programs”, partners proceeded to an in depth analysis of the situation, with the help and answers of the people most fitted to answer: the trainers themselves. Interviews and desk research were used for data collection. Unveiling opportunities and constraints to develop SSE VET curricula, this report is an important contribution for the partners and RIPESS Europe to help overcome the inadequacy of the Occupational Standard, reaching out for all potential trainees.

SSE vision and practices opens a new pathway on many issues such as nature and future of work, local development, social responsibility, education, training, etc. In that context, there are many opportunities for further SSE integration in VET trainings.

Timisoara: transnational meeting for SSE VET
orangesmile.com

By Josette Combes (MES)

An Erasmus project following the previous one focusing on the inclusion of SSE in IVET (initial and vocational education and training) programmes brings together several RIPESS Europe members: CRIES (Romania), DOCKS (Greece), MES (France), Solidarius (Italy), Technet (Germany) under the coordination of APDES (Portugal) and with the contribution of RIPESS Europe. The first transnational meeting took place in Timisoara hosted by CRIES. The meeting was largely dedicated to discussing the program and to adjust to the budgetary restrictions.

The project will run for three years. Its objectives are as follows:

  • Provide curricula to strengthen the skills of trainers in programmes to integrate young people without jobs or qualifications.
  • Propose SSE as a social-cultural, interdisciplinary innovation that provides employment opportunities, especially for those furthest from it.
  • Raise awareness of SSE as a sector that provides employment and an interesting sector in terms of professional and human investment, starting by raising awareness of initial and continuing vocational education, within a local development framework.

Each partner will need to find territories of partners/stakeholders/locally from different macro-regions, which are available to get involved in the project in order to experiment with the modules and participate in their dissemination.

In its final year, the project will produce transmission and communication tools, including a video, with the aim of promoting and disseminating the approach on a European scale*.

Joint projects are an excellent support for intercooperation between members and for strengthening actions in the territories through the circulation of knowledge and skills present in the organizations of each country.

Vocational Training: a new Erasmus project working on Trainers

Following the first European Erasmus+ project, which ended with an international meeting in Porto (Portugal) organised in July by APDES (Agencia Piaget Para O Desenvolvimento), a new project was submitted to Europe and approved. It will officially begin with a working meeting in mid-November in Timisoara (Romania) dedicated to the planning of the different phases of the project.

“The project aims to contribute to the development and improvement of skills and competences in Vocational Education and Training (VET), a need identified during the evaluation process of the previous project (SSEE: affirming a new paradigm through innovation of VET programmes), by providing programmes and strengthening the skills of VET trainers, in order to make VET a socio-cultural, interdisciplinary innovation and a basis for experiences and jobs, starting with vocational training, in the context of local development. This project will advocate for the integration of transversal knowledge and using the importance of general knowledge and key competences in addition to professional competences in this education and training of trainers subsystem. The adaptation and development of VET and SSE skills and competences are richer and better adapted to the needs of the labour market, enable young people and adults to be better qualified and contribute to permeability and mobility between different education and training subsystems. The ability of VET systems to anticipate future skills needs and skill gaps requires the inclusion of new frameworks of ideas, new paradigms and alternative models. This is why the project aims to include social issues and solidarity in the education of new generations of learners. This new socio-economic model will serve as a relevant tool for them to address labour market challenges (…) SSE as an alternative socio-economic model in the EU and other parts of the world is rooted in inclusive values and practices, which are much needed in a “transition era”. SSE practitioners develop alternatives in all economic sectors within and beyond current economic models by focusing on sustainability, social needs, reciprocity and solidarity. (…) SSE offers new skills and competences as well as methodologies and practices for creating new or alternative business models, enterprises and cooperatives. With regard to new skills, in the era of automation, the development of non-technical skills such as communication, creative thinking, work ethics, teamwork, networking, decision-making, flexibility, critical thinking and conflict resolution is considered more than essential. (…)

Based on the objectives of the project, a threefold scope can be presented:

  • First, to make SSE a visible and familiar concept on the labour market with regard to the potential and specific constraints that this alternative socio-economic model includes.
  • Secondly, to empower trainers and trainees such as unemployed and untrained young people to acquire new skills and competences from SSE as part of their attempt to enter the labour market.
  • Third, to provide VET trainers, especially at higher levels, with innovative pedagogical methods and tools by implementing an alternative pedagogical experience (SSE in training). To this end, the project proposes the development of innovative methodologies and specific pedagogical tools including training courses, an online platform to support learning and training activities and guides to good practice. Porto, July 13: a new paradigm in initial vocational training

APDES (member organization of RedPES, the Portuguese SSE network) and RIPESS Europe invite you on July 13 2018 in Porto (Portugal) to participate in the International Seminar on the Social Solidarity Economy in Europe: Affirming a New Paradigm through IVET Curricula Innovation, funded by Erasmus+, to explore the potential of SSE on its connection with the field of initial vocational training.

In this event, there will be an opportunity to reflect in several sessions and workshops – on four thematic areas:

  • The objectives of sustainable development and the SSE
  • The values and principles of SSE in education
  • Extra curricular innovation: the extracurricular program of flexibility and autonomy
  • The SSE in Europe

This event is expected to be a point of reflection and debate, intended for decision makers and representatives of governments, training organizations, third sector entities, community and solidarity economy initiatives, universities.

SSEE IVET: vocational training and SSE – 1st report
September 15, 2017
0

RIPESS Europe is involved in a project called SSEE (September 2016 – August 2018, co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme) collecting information and data on SSE programs of initial and vocational training (IVET) in order to have a panorama of the existing situation in Europe.  The countries directly involved in the project are: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Romania.

The common model explores different aspects, in terms of context(historical, legal, social, political), which allow to assert, through a comparative methodology, the need to develop a common set of training modules on SSE for young people in NEET  . This research report is now available here.
