The REDE PORTUGUESA DE ECONOMIA SOLIDÁRIA (RedPES) invites all organizations, initiatives, collectives and people who are involved and interested in alternative ways of organizing the production, consumption, distribution and exchange of goods, knowledge and services guided by cooperation and the sustainability of resources.
Everywhere, experiences arise that respond to the needs of communities in a socially just, ecologically sustainable and economically viable way, generating abundance and well-being.
New cooperatives and associations, short agri-food circuits, social currencies, collaborative forms of work, are examples of solidarity initiatives that are emerging here and there to show that "another world is possible".
In Portugal, this ecosystem exists but it is scattered and disjointed, and there is a lack of knowledge about the different initiatives and how they can collaborate. In this event we want to know, talk and reflect about what exists, exchange experiences and build a stronger base of cooperation between people and organizations that are practicing solidarity economy in Portugal and beyond.

The World Social Forum of Transformative Economies is the process of convergence of different local and international movements from the alternative economy, which we call transformative economies.
This campaign seeks to deliver public visibility and recognition of transformative economy projects, as well as providing an alternative narrative to challenge hegemonic capitalist discourse, as was announced at the last World Social Forum of Salvador de Bahia by XES, RIPESS and REAS.
The main objective of this process is to bring together social movements and projects which share the will to put people and the environment at the centre of the economy, to put an end to an economy based on extraction, growth, competition and the market, and to struggle towards collaborative, resilient societies which develop and reinforce strategic alliances and actions through working together.
We are aware that the dynamics of power and privilege are also present in transformative economies, and therefore we wish to ensure a close focus that guarantees the diversity of the individuals that participate in this process.
The WSFTE seeks to unite forces among existing practices and processes of convergence that are already underway, in order to build together an inclusive global agenda which asserts that another world already exists! In the spirit of previous World Social Forums, we intend to bring the goals of grassroots social movements to public services (above all at a municipal and regional level), with the aim of developing public policies which strengthen more humane forms of understanding the economy. We also wish to bring the work which is done in universities and research centres in the transformative economies field into play. To this end, two transversal axes – publicy policies and education and research – will be embedded and will work jointly with the rest of the axes.
The decision to undertake this process in Barcelona is not coincidental : Catalonia is a worldwide reference point for cooperativism and the solidarity economy, with a history defined by social struggles. Once more, the country will stand out on the world scene for its social commitment and its desire to build a better world.
