One thing is obvious: the utter failure of a system based on finance and the commodification of humanity, life and the planet. The regressive policies pursued by many governments are aggravating the living conditions of the peoples in favor of an increasingly rich minority.
Yet many of us are taking action in the face of rising inequalities and poverty, climate change, and the regression of democracy in France, Europe and the world. The associative, social and citizen movement, in all its components, from local to international, plays a major role in countering the rise of a deleterious climate on all levels. We have a great responsibility to sensitize citizens and convince them to mobilize, to commit, to act more and more.
It is necessary to show that it is possible from now on, starting from initiatives and experimentations at different scales of our territories, to build the alternatives to the dominant model and this in the interest of the greatest number. But for the impact of all our various actions to be stronger, we need to come together, support one another.
That is why we call on all organizations of social transformation and solidarity, associations, unions, independent media, collectives, networks, all those who will recognize in our initiative, to participate in the co- construction of a "Solidarity-based, Citizen-based and Rebel Summer University" which will take place from 22 to 26 August 2018 in Grenoble.
The sovereignty of a territory, of a society is, in fact, a set of sovereignties that we must build between all and that go far beyond the construction of a state. If natural resources, means of production, the media, social networks ... are controlled by a few, the people can never be sovereign about the satisfaction of their needs and the care of the environment. These various sovereignties, which we defend - food, technology, energy, financial, sovereignty on our own bodies ... - face us with an organizational challenge to make the whole society participate and be responsible for everything that affects it.
In this VII edition of the FESC we want to reflect on these challenges, give visibility to models that already work, discuss how to replicate them, how to scale them. Aware that the areas on which we want to be sovereigns exceed the limits of the social and solidarity economy we will focus on 3 axes:
- SOVEREIGNTY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES
- ECONOMIC SOVEREIGNTY
- RELATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY
